What a beautiful encounter we had yesterday! We saw a pod of Killer Whales that we see here in Monterey pretty often throughout the year. The CA140’s are usually a pod of 6 when we had seen them in the past but they were a pod of 7 yesterday...
Headed out at 10:00AM today let’s hope for some Blue whales! 🐋❤️ @discoverywhalewatch
An incredible event has been discovered in Monterey Bay. Over the last couple days, over 50 blue whales, 20 fin whales, and between 60-90 humpback whales have gathered on the outer reaches of the bay as they feed on krill and small fish. We normally expect to see a phenomenon like this between April and September, but finding it in November makes it an extremely rare find. I deployed my drone yesterday and filmed over 20 blue whales, a couple fin whales, and some humpbacks all within 1 mile of each other. In this photo you can see a gargantuan blue whale barely break the water's surface as it prepares to breathe. If you live close by, come join me out on @sanctuarycruises to have the chance to witness this for yourself!
Never settle for just one scoop. Friday’s aren’t complete without a tasty treat in hand. 🍦 📷 | @thehideawaycarmel
