This is what my nursing journey looks like at 20 months in. Lol. 😂
I want to share benefits of breastfeeding for us mothers. It seems that sometimes we forget that moms also benefit from exclusively nursing their babies. I personally can attest to more than a few of these benefits. I am simply proud of how far I've come in my nursing journey.👸🏽 1. Promotes postpartum weight loss. Breastfeeding mothers showed a significant larger reduction in fat loss by one month compared with formula-feeding moms.
2. Promotes emotional health. Studies show that mothers who breastfeed show less postpartum anxiety and depression than do formula-feeding mothers.
3. Simply costs less to breastfeed. It costs an average $1200 a year to formula-feed your baby.
4. Lessens osteoporosis. None breastfeeding mothers have a four times greater chance of developing osteoporosis than breastfeeding women. Just W O W.
5. Reduces risk of breast cancer. You will literally reduce the risk by as much as 25%. 6. Reduces risk of ovarian and uterine cancers. "One of the reasons for the cancer-fighting effects of breastfeeding is that estrogen levels are lower during lactation. It is thought that the less estrogen available to stimulate the lining of the uterus and perhaps breast tissue also, the less the risk of these tissues becoming cancerous." 7. Natural birth control. Since breastfeeding delays ovulation, the longer a mother breastfeed the longer her chances are of staying infertile. How long a mother stays infertile depends on her body.#BlackBreastfeedingWeek#bwdbf#blkbfing#BetOnBlack#BBW17#itsonlynatural#staywokeandbf#BlackBreastfeedingWeek#BlackWomenDoBreastfeed#BreastfeedingMamaTalk#BlackMomsBlogb#Repost
Did you know this week is Black Breastfeeding Week? As a midwife I am dedicated to women and their craft. I am dedicated to ensuring that ALL people and women are empowered, supported, and celebrated for their amazing dedication to the life of their children. I know there's been a lot of questions by some of my white sisters on why we have a separate week for Black Women. I wanna help expand your brains. So now I'll exit this lane and amplify the words of black women on why Black Breastfeeding Week is needed. Each day I'll share a new image and another reason we should #betonblack
@gardenoflife will become part of Nestle. This is not good news. Nestle does not have our best interest at heart, a lot of their products (baby formula included) contain GMOs, and they support non-labeling of GMOs. When companies switch over, ingredients also switch over! I WILL NO LONGER BUY OR RECOMMEND ANY #GARDENOFLIFE
